Jammu: To bridge the gap between ‘skills and entrepreneurship’, Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM Jammu) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) have collaborated for a one-year special offer Skill to Enterprise Module (STEM) program for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
An official spokesperson of IIM Jammu said, “The program is designed to equip youth with the necessary knowledge and guidance to start and grow their own businesses. It provides eight weeks of virtual training to help participants develop It will also provide four weeks of comprehensive residential training. “Understanding of business management, compliance, finance, planning and strategic aspects of business.”
“Candidates will be selected by experts based on the readiness of their ideas and will be provided guidance through industry mentorship and incubation. The two batches of STEM will commence from December 4 and December 19 at IIM Srinagar and Jammu campuses respectively.”
Professor BS Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, who conceived the idea for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and was instrumental in building this collaboration with SIDBI, said the program will empower the youth to realize their full potential, empower themselves and others. “STEM is a joint collaboration between IIM Jammu and SIDBI and is designed to provide entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills required to successfully start and manage their businesses,” an IIM Jammu spokesperson said. He informed that a total of 60 selected participants will be trained. Duration of one year, and no fees will be charged from the participants.
