HONG KONG – Barclays promoted Avinash Thakur to head of capital markets financing in Asia-Pacific on Friday, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters and confirmed by a company spokesman.
The appointment of Thakur, who most recently headed the investment bank’s debt teams in the region since 2016, is effective immediately.
With the newly created role, Thakur assumes additional responsibilities of leading the region’s equity finance activities.
Barclays said in the memo that the promotion is part of its move to accelerate the execution of its investment banking plan. The British bank is undergoing a global restructuring with the overhaul of investment banking business at its core.
